To give you a heads up and to help you choose from the over 400 great artists that perform across more than 30 stages during the three festival days, check out Mels Jukebox ‘Must See Acts’!

If Indie and Rock music is what floats your boat, make sure to catch these amazing bands!

The Amazons

If you haven’t heard about The Amazons over the last few months, you have clearly been living under a rock. These four lads from Reading are here to leave a mark on the rock scene.

With a debut album due to hit the shelves on 2nd June 2017, they are one of the hottest acts of this year’s The Great Escape! Crafting loud and heavy rock music, songs like ‘Little Something’ and ‘Black Magic’ hit you straight away with their heavy riffs and their stadium worthy choruses.

Make sure to catch them in a small, hot and sweaty venue like The East Wing on Thursday night at 9.15pm while you can, as it won’t be long until The Amazons will be hitting the big stages!

A slightly controversial name and some dirty sounds. Seems like a good equation for some decent dirty pop-rock handmade in Norway. Slotface are definitely gonna get you moving. Their infectious bangers ‘Take Me Dancing’ and the iconic ‘Empire Records’ bristle unadulterated and fearless fun.

Fronted by Haley Shea, the Norwegian four-piece is a force to be reckoned with over the next couple of months.

If you want a good time dancing and moshing with your friends to a band that everyone will be talking about in a few weeks, make sure to pencil in a date with Slotface!

You can catch Norwegian quartet at the VEVO stage on Thursday 18th May 2017 between 6.30 and 8pm. Or catch Slotface at Horatio’s on Friday night at 9.15pm.

Berlin’s hottest export on the garage-rock scene is duo GURR. Combining girl power with catchy garage rock tunes and a hint of mystery makes Andreya and Laura ones to watch. Ever since releasing their debut album ‘In My Head’ to the big wide world in 2016, the duo has been racking up life shows all across the globe.

GURR’s sound is edgy and comes with the coolness of some old school rock mixed with some proper riot girl vibes.

The influence of Berlin’s big city life undoubtedly shines through in their songs. Tracks like ‘Walnuts’ and ‘Moby Dick’ are the perfect soundtrack to a long road trip while ‘Rollerskate’ will get you moving.

Don’t forget to check out GURR live during The Great Escape Festival and join Andreya and Laura at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar on Thursday 3.30pm or later that night at Green Door Store at 9.15pm!

Dream Wife

These charming young ladies might look like they can’t harm a fly, but once let loose on stage their a force to be reckoned with!

Dream Wife will blow you away with their girl power anthems, circling around feminism and bad bitches that stand up for themselves.

Recent single ‘Somebody’ is a masterpiece with a strong message that should be shouted from the roof tops. Prepare for a gig you won’t forget, mosh pit galore and a lot of energy!

One thing is for sure you don’t wanna be the one that missed out on Dream Wifes TGE performance, so get yourself down early to the VEVO stage at Wagner Hall on Friday 19th May 2017 at 11pm or catch them on Saturday at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar at 9:30pm.

Playing their home crowds at The Great Escape festival are Tigercub! Hailing from Brighton the trio will take you on a musical journey across some fuzzy alt rock tunes.

After releasing their debut album ‘Abstract Figures In The Dark’ in late 2016, Tigercub had an amazing start to 2017 so far being constantly on tour. Even when their band van got broken in, Tigercub didn’t lose their cool.

Come and meet these three talented lads and let them amaze you during their set at The Old Market on Saturday 10pm!

Indigo Husk

Hailing from London town, four piece Indigo Husk take you on a musical journey across the genres. Their sound ranges from chilled out psychedelic tunes to grungy punk rock anthems and will surely get you hooked!

Single ‘Misbehave’ is a proper summery Indie Rock banger that makes you want summer to start already! Indigo Husk’s EP ‘Itchy’ is a great taster of what the future might hold for these five lads.

Don’t forget to catch Indigo Husk live at Prince Albert on Friday night at 8pm!

Happy Accidents

Mixing happy sunny vibes with punk rock tunes is a craft not a lot of people mastered. Thankfully London’s Happy Accidents know how it works!

The trio, consisting of brothers Rich and Neil Mandell and drummer Phoebe Cross, are known for creating a great mix of indie and punk sounds that will get stuck in your head for the rest of the festival.

These three young musicians are here to stay that’s for sure so you better get yourself down to watch their gig when the Happy Accidents are hitting up Brighthelm Centre on Saturday at 12:30!

Anteros are another London band that is making their way down to the sunny sea side in Brighton to grace you all with their amazing indie rock. Fresh of releasing their new EP ‘Drunk’, the four-piece is equipped with some new tunes and they are ready to share them with you.

Front woman Laura Hayden always puts on an amazing show and makes an Anteros concert a proper experience. And if that doesn’t draw you in the infectious bangers like ‘Breakfast’ or ‘Anteros’ will.

Get yourself down to BLEACH on Thursday at 2:30pm and join the Anteros lot!
