For the release of her new single ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’ Jess Glynne performed a special and very intimate gig at the The Box in London’s Soho.
The event was money can’t buy experience as tickets could only be won through a raffle, which meant that the venue was full of Jess Glynne fans waiting in anticipation of seeing her back on stage after a having to take a break due to medical issues.
At 7:30pm the curtain opened and Jess Glynne came on stage. Tonight’s gig was the first live show for her after a three weeks rest due to her vocal chords surgery. It was obvious that this was a big deal for Jess but she sounded as perfect as ever. If you have a voice like that nothing is going to stop you from singing!
The show started with ‘Ain’t Got Far To Go’ a feel-good up-tempo number that set the tone for the rest of the night. Next up Jess Glynne performed the two tracks that she collaborated on with ‘Clean Bandit‘. ‘Real Love’ and ‘Rather Be’ sounded lush in the small venue and instantly had the crowd singing along to those famous tunes.
During the set Jess Glynne took some time to thank everyone in the crowd for coming along to this very special gig. She also mentioned that she needs to take it a bit slower today, as this was her first gig after a long time, which the crowd responded with ‘Take your time Jess’ chants.
Jess Glynne put on a brilliant show and there was no sign of her recent surgery as she sang a beautiful acoustic version of ‘My Love’ which captivated the whole venue and surely graced some of the fans with goose bumps.
Picking up the beat again Jess Glynne launched straight into ‘Right Here’ her debut solo single. The bass-heavy number seemed to be a crowd-pleaser and had everyone singing and dancing throughout the whole song.
As the whole gig was a special promo show for Jess Glynne’s upcoming debut album ‘I Cry When I Laugh’, she premiered a few more tracks that night like the equally brilliant ‘Why Me’ and ‘Take Me Home’.
It was a wrap as Jess Glynne finally sang her new single ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’ and the fans went crazy one last time. Needless to say a massive sing a long and some dancing ensued. The whole room was all smiles and just genuinely happy for Jess, about the new single, the upcoming debut album and of course this brilliant concert!
Judging by Jess Glynne’s outstanding performance and the great potential of the ‘I Cry When I Laugh’ songs, her debut album will surely be a massive banger.
